Agencies Can’t Cut Corners To Pause Obama Rules, Court Says

Federal agencies don’t have absolute authority to delay rules they intend to rewrite, a federal appellate court said in the latest rebuke of Trump administration attempts to relieve industry from complying with Obama-era environmental regulations.

The June 29 opinion backs up an April 23 decision from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit overturning the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s effort to keep increased fuel economy standard fines from taking effect.
