Alston & Bird Adds Former FTC Attorney as D.C. Partner

Alston & Bird has hired former Federal Trade Commission official Kathleen Benway as a partner in the firm’s Washington office.

Benway worked about a dozen years at the FTC, including as chief of staff to three former directors of the agency’s Bureau of Consumer Protection. In that role, she managed day-to-day operations, and represented the bureau in interactions with agency commissioners.

Benway, who boasts significant regulatory and enforcement experience in privacy and data security matters, concentrates her practice on government investigations and consumer protection-focused corporate compliance.
