Amtrak Lawyer Didn’t Show Bias in Her Firing, D.C. Cir. Affirms

Amtrak doesn’t have to face trial on claims by a former attorney who says she was fired based on her age or sex or for complaining about job bias, a federal appeals court ruled.

Kathleen Ranowsky lost her job in 2014 during a restructuring at the company. But the 60-year-old Ranowsky didn’t rebut Inspector General Tom Howard’s explanation that her position was cut because Howard had lost confidence in her ability to do her job, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit said Aug. 14.
