Arnold & Porter Offers Voluntary Buyouts to 140 Secretaries

Little more than a year after Arnold & Porter merged with Kaye Scholer, the combined firm offered voluntary buyouts for its legal secretaries.

The move, which applied to 140 secretaries, came shortly after the firm overhauled its branding.

Richard M. Alexander, the firm’s chair, insisted that it is financially healthy and buyouts were the result of a routine review of how services are delivered.

“Our firm is healthy; we exceeded our budget in 2017, and we are even better positioned for 2018,” he said in a phone interview.
