Bloomberg BNA hired Casey in January 2015 to launch and oversee editorial for Big Law Business. He has helped establish the company’s business of law coverage through a variety of mediums: breaking news, commentary, events, podcasts and video. As a reporter, Casey regularly breaks news in the legal market. Scoops have included the first reporting of the multi-million dollar pay packages that sank the New York law firm Dewey & LeBoeuf, as well as a variety of law firm layoffs, senior management changes and M&A, including Morgan Lewis & Bockius’s 2014 asset acquisition of Bingham McCutchen. Outside of reporting, Casey recruits and edits journalists and industry contributors who write for Big Law Business and helps shape editorial for the Big Law Business Summit, a marquee conference that features the country’s most influential lawyers. Casey also co-hosts a podcast with Josh Block, which features various legal journalists discussing the top law firms in the news, and also co-produces a video series featuring chairs of the top U.S. law firms interviewing each other. Prior to launching Big Law Business, Casey covered the business of law and general legal affairs as a staff correspondent for Reuters, where his stories appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, The Baltimore Sun, and Yahoo, among other publications.
