Stephen Joyce is a Bloomberg Law staff correspondent covering regulatory, statutory and enforcement developments involving energy and environment, health care, privacy and the business of law in four Midwestern states. He is based in Chicago. With 20 years of journalism experience covering European, U.S. and state regulatory agencies, Joyce reports on Justice Department enforcement actions regarding Medicare and Medicaid fraud cases,federal and state energy regulatory decisions, local and national environmental initiatives, and right-to-know and embedded-technology privacy legislation. He also profiles legal luminaries and law-firm developments. He was one of Bloomberg Law's chief reporters covering the 2008 financial crisis while posted in New York. Before that he covered federal tax policy from Washington, D.C. Stephen began his career at Bloomberg Law as a Washington D.C.-based reporter covering federal tax policy and the Internal Revenue Service. Prior to joining Bloomberg Law, Joyce was a freelance reporter based in several European cities, working for several English-language news publications and services. He has been a speaker at Bloomberg LP business conferences and provided analysis on U.S. financial regulatory developments on radio stations across the United States. Joyce holds a B.A. degree in journalism from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and was enrolled in post-graduate international economics courses at Boston College.
