Boies Cautions Against Corrosion of Judicial Independence

Politically driven threats to judicial independence are not unique to President Donald Trump but his public criticisms of judges undermine the rule of law, Boies Schiller & Flexner founder and chairman David Boies said.

Speaking at the New York City Bar, the prominent trial attorney and Democratic heavyweight singled out Trump criticism of a federal judge because of his Hispanic heritage—which occurred when he was a candidate—and presidential statements about perceived judicial biases based on the political loyalties of the chief executive who appointed them.
