Bumble Bee Salmon Label Change Settlement Gets Final OK

A class settlement involving changes to Bumble Bee canned salmon labels got the final approval from a federal court in California.

Bumble Bee LLC agreed to the injunctive-relief-only settlement to resolve a consumer suit alleging it duped buyers into thinking farm-raised salmon was high-quality, wild-caught Alaskan salmon. The revised packaging will say the product is “Smoke Flavored Salmon Fillets,” rather than “Smoked Salmon” and no longer claims to be “Premium” or “Medium Red.”
