California Bar Fee Law Mandates More Audits, Reforms

The California Bar’s latest attorney fee law will continue to ensure that the bar’s focus is on public safety.

Gov. Jerry Brown (D) Sept. 21 signed Assembly Bill 3249, which authorizes $390 for an attorney’s annual base licensing fee. The bill requires an intensive audit before the next year’s fee bill is adopted and provides that protecting the public includes supporting greater access to, and inclusion in, the legal system.
