Case to Watch: Law Firm Wants Gender Pay Suit in Arbitration

Sedgwick, a San Francisco-founded litigation law firm, told a California federal judge this week that Traci Ribeiro’s unequal pay suit belongs in arbitration, arguing her gender discrimination claims are subject to a binding arbitration agreement she signed when she became partner.

“Plaintiff should be compelled to arbitrate her claims under the agreement she entered with all of her fellow partners at Sedgwick,” attorneys for Sedgwick, from Seyfarth Shaw, told the court this Tuesday.
