Chicago to Face Off Against City Employee in Retaliation Lawsuit

The city of Chicago can’t escape litigating the merits of a black, disabled employee’s claims the city purposefully stymied her career progression, according to a federal district court order issued March 14.

Doll Curtis, a black woman with disabilities, works as an auditor in Chicago’s Revenue Department. She says that after she won reinstatement to her job in a previous wrongful termination case, the city began systemically retaliating against her to defeat any chance of further promotion.
