D.C. Metro Off the Hook in Race, Sex Bias Suit

The District of Columbia’s public transit agency wasn’t wrong to rehire a Vietnamese officer rather than reinstate him after an appeals court expunged the assault conviction that led to his 2013 termination, a federal judge said March 19.

The ruling is a win for the Washington Metro Area Transit Authority after two recent losses in separate discrimination cases. Another judge said in January that the metro system would have to go to trial on a black employee’s claims that he wasn’t promoted and ultimately fired because of his race.
