Craig Critical to Ukraine Outreach: Ex-Trump Campaign Aide (2)

Former Trump campaign aide Rick Gates told a jury Aug. 22 that one-time Obama White House counsel Gregory Craig was a willing and critical participant in plans to engage journalists on a report written for the Ukrainian government.

Federal prosecutors tried to use Gates, who was testifying under a plea agreement, to paint a clearer picture of Craig’s much-debated roll in the media plan meant to drum up interest in the report. Craig is on trial in a felony false statements case borne out of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election.
