Facebook Hires Advisers to Review Alleged Bias, Civil Rights

Facebook Inc. has appointed outside advisers to examine concerns of alleged political bias on the platform and the company’s impact on underrepresented communities.

Former Republican Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl, senior of counsel at Covington & Burling LLP, will lead the effort of reviewing alleged bias against conservative voices. Relman Dane & Colfax PLLC will conduct a civil rights audit of Facebook’s services and internal operations.

The move comes as Facebook continues to face global government scrutiny over its data protection practices and content moderation policies.
