Firm of Attorney Sued by SEC Can’t Represent Immigrant Investor

A firm whose principal attorney is being sued by the government for allegedly defrauding immigrant investors can’t continue to represent an immigrant investor challenging the denial of his visa petition.

Taher Kameli of the Kameli Law Group in Chicago is being sued by the Securities and Exchange Commission on allegations that he defrauded immigrants seeking EB-5 visas. The visas go to foreign nationals who invest at least $500,000 in commercial enterprises that create 10 jobs for U.S. workers.
