Virginia Lt. Gov. Fairfax Sues CBS for Defamation (1)

Virginia Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax (D) has filed a $400 million defamation lawsuit against CBS over the company’s airing of sexual assault allegations.

The former partner with Morrison & Foerster says in his lawsuit that the broadcast company “published, promoted, and amplified” false and politically motivated allegations made by two women, Meredith Watson and Vanessa Tyson. CBS aired interviews with the women in April on its “CBS This Morning” show.

Fairfax filed his lawsuit Sept. 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
