Gilead, Tech Group Urge Court to Overturn Judge on Patent Venue

Gilead Sciences Inc. and a group of tech companies, including Alphabet Inc.’s Google, Amazon.com Inc., and Intel Corp., asked the nation’s patent appeals court to rein in an East Texas federal judge’s broad interpretation of where patent owners can file lawsuits.

Gilead and the High Tech Inventors Alliance filed separate friend-of-the-court briefs this week asking the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit to review a ruling rejecting supercomputer maker Cray Inc.'s motion to transfer a patent lawsuit against it.
