Google Loss in Online Ad Accounting Patent Case Upheld on Appeal

Google LLC’s attempt to knock out patents on a method for counting advertisement views on a computing device failed today.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruling will limit Google’s invalidity arguments in an infringement trial scheduled for March 2019.

At Home Bondholders’ Liquidating Trust brought charges that Google’s AdSense technology infringed the patents in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.

The Federal Circuit affirmed an earlier Patent and Trademark Office judgment that a prior patent didn’t disclose the technology claimed by now-defunct internet company At Home Corp.
