Gorsuch Faulted as Top Court Spurns Him on Disabled Students

U.S. Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch drew fire in his Senate confirmation hearing after the high court Wednesday unanimously rejected his position on the educational rights of disabled students.

The Supreme Court ruling, issued in the case of an autistic boy, said school districts had to do more to meet the needs of disabled students than Gorsuch had required in a 2008 appeals court ruling. Gorsuch had said the school districts “merely” had to provide more than a minimal amount of extra help.
