John Boehner to Join Squire Patton Boggs

Former U.S. House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) is joining Squire Patton Boggs, the firm announced on Tuesday.

Boehner, who is not a lawyer, will work at the firm as a strategic advisor, out of Washington and Cincinnati. He will not become a lobbyist, a specialty that Patton Boggs, before it was acquired by Squire Sanders, was best known for.

Today, the firm remains active in the lobbying and public policy arena, staffing former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.), former Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) and former Sen. John Breaux (D-La.).
