A federal court jury awarded more than $1 million to a former employee of Brinkerhoff Inspection Inc. in Texas.
In a June 6 verdict in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas, the jury found that Sara L. Roberts wouldn’t have been terminated but for her rejection of a supervisor’s sexual advances. The jury found Roberts also wouldn’t have been discharged but for her gender and for the fact she was pregnant.
The verdict includes $125,000 for past wages and benefits, $42,000 for pain and suffering, and more than $841,000 in punitive damages.
