Kirkland Promotes Record Partner Class

Global law firm Kirkland & Ellis promoted a record 141 people to partner.

The partner class, which was effective Oct. 1, was three times the number in 2009 when Jeffrey Hammes was named to chair the firm’s global management executive committee.

This year’s class exceeded the 122 promotions announced last year. That number was significantly up from 97 partners in 2017, according to firm figures. The firm’s partner class was smaller in 2016, with only 81 named.

The newest class lists partners in a variety of practices, including private equity, debt finance, litigation, capital markets, restructuring, tax and antitrust.
