DOL says $50,000 judgment against partner can’t be offset by state court judgment

The managing partner of a dissolved law firm can’t avoid paying a $50,000 judgment to the Labor Department just because he also lost a state court lawsuit involving the same alleged misconduct, the department told a federal appeals court.
