Law Firm Announces Big Change: No More Ampersand in its Name

Sharp. Efficient. Sound, crisp legal judgment. These are some of the qualities law firms aspire to represent to corporate clients who are pretty much fed up with bloated invoices.

How to best communicate those qualities, other than exhibiting them? Fisher & Phillips announced on Wednesday that it’s changing its name, striking out the ampersand, to just, Fisher Phillips.

The name change reminded us of a number of other similar rebrandings in favor of abbreviation:

• In 2011, Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP announced it would become just, Paul Hastings LLP.
