Law Firm Sedgwick Files for Bankruptcy After Closing Its Doors

Trial and litigation law firm Sedgwick LLP shut down and sought Chapter 11 protection after more than 84 years in business.

The firm listed debt of as much as $50 million and assets of as much as $10 million in documents filed Oct. 2 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in San Francisco where the firm was based.

Sedgwick retained Pachulski Stang Ziehl & Jones LLP as its bankruptcy counsel.

The firm began winding down in January.

The case is In re Sedgwick LLP, 18-31087, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of California (San Francisco), petition filed 10/2/18.
