Lawmakers Want FTC, DOJ to Examine Celgene/Bristol-Myers Deal

Democratic Rep. Peter Welch and Republican Rep. Francis Rooney sent a letter to the FTC and DOJ asking them to “examine carefully” the impact of the merger of Celgene and Bristol-Myers Squibb on consumers.

The Jan. 11 letter was sent to FTC Chairman Joseph Simons and acting AG Matthew Whitaker.

Celgene tops the FDA’s list of manufacturers attempting to slow development of generic alternatives to brand name drugs, the lawmakers say in a statement.
