Lobbying Firms, Clients Parting Ways With Tax Bill Done

• Contracts for advocacy shorter than in previous five years • Tax was top lobbying issue in fourth quarter of 2017

More lobbying firms received shorter contracts than the previous five years as businesses, municipalities and others curbed their advocacy after a busy 2017, when Congress passed landmark legislation that lowered corporate and individual rates.

Although the cumulative number of lobbying terminations filed in the first quarter of 2018 is on par with previous years, a greater share of those ended contracts are for engagements that lasted one year or less.
