Nelson Mullins Hires Former Rep. Gowdy for Gov’t Probes Team

Trey Gowdy, the former Republican chairman of the U.S. House Oversight Committee, has rejoined Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough as its newest partner on the white collar defense and government investigations team.

Gowdy, a former prosecutor, will be based in Washington and Greenville, S.C., the firm said.

During his time in Congress, he chaired investigations of the Obama administration’s handling of the 2012 terror attacks on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, and more recently probes into FBI investigations of issues around the 2016 presidential election.

Gowdy declined to run for re-election in 2018.
