Net Neutrality Bill Passes California Senate Despite Doubts

A bill in California requiring internet service providers to follow net neutrality principles passed the state’s Senate despite misgivings from Democrats who voted for it.

Senators voted 22-12 along party lines to sendS.B. 822,introduced by Sen. Scott Wiener (D), to the Assembly, the state’s lower chamber where it must pass by Aug. 31 to reach the desk of Gov. Jerry Brown (D).
