NY Top Court Rejects Defendants’ ID Theft Challenges

Using someone else’s personal identification information can show “assuming the identity of another” under New York’s ID theft law, the state top court held May 3.

The decision—sparked by two cases from different parts of the state—resolved a split among the state courts of appeal.
