Pay Women Equally, New Jersey’s New Governor Urges

Equal pay for women in New Jersey surfaced as a top priority for the state’s new Democratic governor upon his being sworn into office Jan. 16.

Gov. Phil Murphy in his inaugural address said he plans to sign an executive order on his first day in office to promote equal pay for women. The governor is scheduled to sign the order at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 16, according to his spokesman.

Murphy called on the legislature to send him bills on equal pay, sick leave, and a $15-an-hour minimum wage.
