San Francisco Looking to Automatically Clear Pot Convictions

Pot convictions from when weed was illegal in California will automatically be cleared under a project between San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón and Code For America, a nonprofit using technology to increase government efficiency.

The technology-fueled process uses automation to expunge as many as 8,000 misdemeanor and felony pot cases, while freeing up resources for overloaded courts, DAs, and attorneys and helping overwhelmed individuals.
