SCOTUS Bigwigs Clash Over Ban on Religious Ads on Buses

Two veteran U.S. Supreme Court litigators debated the constitutionality of Washington’s regional public transportation authority’s ban on ads that promote or oppose religious beliefs at the D.C. Circuit March 26.

The case could make its way to the U.S. Supreme Court, which has shown a marked interest in similar cases this term.

Paul D. Clement of Kirkland & Ellis LLP and Donald B. Verrilli Jr. of Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP, both former U.S. solicitors general, faced off in the courtroom.
