SEC Said to Consider Naming Wall Street Lawyer Enforcement Chief

Steven Peikin, a former colleague of U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Jay Clayton, is likely to be named head of the agency’s enforcement division, according to people familiar with the matter.

Peikin, 51, who worked with Clayton at law firm Sullivan & Cromwell, is a former federal prosecutor in Manhattan. He entered private practice in 2004. If Peikin is hired to lead the enforcement division, he would have one of the highest-profile jobs in government holding Wall Street accountable for misdeeds.
