Sedgwick Employment Lawyers Find New Home at Duane Morris

• Duane Morris will hire Sedgwick’s employment lawyers in San Francisco

• Other Sedgwick lawyers may follow

Several labor and employment lawyers from Sedgwick LLP who were facing unemployment will soon be working for Duane Morris LLP in San Francisco.

Duane Morris is finalizing arrangements for former Sedgwick employment group co-chairs Robert D. Eassa and James S. Brown and partner Delia A. Isvoranu to join its employment, labor, benefits, and immigration practice, the firm said. Eassa will head the labor and employment group in Northern California.

Seven associates from Sedgwick’s San Francisco office are expected to accompany them.

The move likely will occur in mid-December, Thomas G. Servodidio told Bloomberg Law Nov. 30. Servodidio chairs Duane Morris’ employment, labor, benefits, and immigration practice group. “Adding 10 employment lawyers to our San Francisco office gives us added bench strength in the northern California market,” he said. “It helps us have a very strong California presence over all.”

Sedgwick announced Nov. 21 that it will close in early January. The firm lost many high-ranking partners and closed offices in several cities during the past year.

Duane Morris also is talking with lawyers from other Sedgwick practice groups about joining the firm in San Francisco and other locations, it said in a Nov. 28 announcement.
