Senate Lawmakers Press Marriott for Data Breach Answers

Marriott International Inc. is now facing pressure for answers from lawmakers on the Senate Commerce Committee about its massive data breach that exposed information of up to 500 million guests.

Republicans, including current chairman John Thune (S.D.), incoming chairman Roger Wicker (Miss.), and Sen. Jerry Moran (Kan.) wrote to Marriott Dec. 3 for further details of the hack into its Starwood guest reservation database.

“Protecting consumers remains a key priority of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation,” they wrote.
