The subject of the hit podcast “Serial” got his murder conviction vacated by the Maryland Court of Special Appeals today.

Adnan Syed was convicted in 2000 of murdering his ex-girlfriend Hae Min Lee and sentenced to life plus 30 years.

The case will be remanded for a new trial.

His case rose to national prominence thanks to the 2014 podcast, which explored Syed’s case and-some argued-cast doubt on his guilt.
