Shearman Starts Seoul Office as Firms Gain South Korea Footholds

Shearman & Sterling has launched a new office in Seoul, South Korea, becoming the latest law firm to enter the country’s legal market which up until recent years was closed to foreign firms entirely.

The three-lawyer office will be led by project development and finance partner Anna Chung. She’s joined by counsel Scott Baggett, who is in the same practice group, and an associate.

The team will advise Korean companies on projects related to power, liquefied natural gas, oil and gas, and petrochemicals. They will also assist lawyers in other offices on Korea-related arbitration, antitrust and funds matters.
