Antitrust lawyer Bruce Hoffman has been tapped to take over the Federal Trade Commission’s competition team, the agency said July 20.
Hoffman, who recently became a partner at Shearman & Sterling LLP, has been named acting director of the FTC’s Bureau of Competition, effective Aug. 7. He is currently global co-head of the firm’s antitrust group.
Hoffman was previously an antitrust partner at Hunton & Williams LLP. He has also served at the FTC as a competition bureau deputy chief and an associate director for regional litigation.
