Supreme Court Rejects Business Tax Settlement Case

The U.S. Supreme Court won’t review a suit brought by partners in an oil company seeking a refund of business taxes paid to settle with the Internal Revenue Service.

Ronald Goldberg and his partners had challenged a U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit ruling that the partners didn’t exhaust their available administrative remedies in their refund claim.

The lower court said the partners only alleged errors with the agency’s tax assessment, not the tax collected.
