These Two Firms Circled Each Other, But Walked Away

Another one bites the dust -- a law firm merger that is.

In December, we reported that the 440-lawyer Crowell & Moring and 132-lawyer Herrick Feinstein were in merger discussions. Today, the firms confirmed those talks went exactly nowhere.

Below is a joint statement:

Over the past several months, Crowell & Moring and Herrick Feinstein explored the idea of combining firms. After carefully weighing the merits of the opportunity, we have ended these discussions. Nonetheless, our firms maintain high regard for each other and value the friendships gained through this process.
