Three Parking Spots Outside New York: An Unlikely Big Law Battle

Gerard Kelly wants three handicap parking spaces installed on a downtown street in Garden City, New York, and now Covington & Burling and Seyfarth Shaw will square off in federal court.

Kelly, who has multiple sclerosis, first asked the nearly 23,000-person village to install the handicap spots two years ago. With the help of Covington & Burling partner David Luttinger, Kelly in July last year filed an Americans with Disabilities Act lawsuit against the village in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
