Two Newest Democratic Senators Join Labor Committee

The two newest Democratic senators have been assigned to fill vacant seats on the labor committee, a spokeswoman for the panel told Bloomberg Law.

Sens. Doug Jones (Ala.) and Tina Smith (Minn.) were assigned to the Senate Committee on Health, Education Labor and Pensions.

Republicans still retain their 12-11 majority over the panel that later this week will once again consider some of President Donald Trump’s controversial Labor Department nominees.
