A federal prosecutor highlighted Gregory Craig’s interactions with former Trump campaign Chairman Paul Manafort during opening arguments in the former Obama White House counsel’s criminal trial.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Molly Gaston told 14 newly minted jurors that Craig’s “sterling reputation built over the course of a lifetime” helped lead to his firm’s employment by the Ukrainian government, but it didn’t stop him from deceiving federal investigators about the extent of his work for the country’s former pro-Russia regime.
