Wake Up Call: D.C. Council Member Reprimanded for Soliciting Business from Law Firms

  • A long-serving Washington, D.C., Council member, Democrat Jack Evans, got a council reprimand yesterday and faces further sanctions for allegedly using his government staff and email to solicit business from law firms that lobby the city. The Post identified the firms Evans approached as Nelson Mullins, Venable, K&L Gates, and Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, which hired him. Evans, a former Patton Boggs lawyer, is also the target of a federal criminal investigation. (WaPo)
