Wake Up Call: ‘Dam Breaks’ on Associate Pay; Other Firms Match Raises

• Weil, Skadden, Kirkland & Ellis, and Cleary are among the latest firms moving to match the associate pay announced earlier in the week by Cravath, which one-upped the pay scale Milbank announced at the beginning of June. First-year pay now is $190,000 for associates, rising to $340,000 for associates who graduated in 2010. ( American Lawyer ) The recent pay hikes mark the breaking of the associate compensation dam.
