Wake Up Call: Ex-Skadden Lawyer Gives Mueller Guilty Plea, Not Cooperation

• A former Skadden associate in London, Alex van der Zwaan, pleaded guilty to lying to investigators in special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of Russian interference in the U.S. election. The lawyer admitted lying about his Ukraine-related conversations with Robert Gates, a former aide to President Donald Trump and a longtime business partner of former campaign chairman Paul Manafort. The plea could ratchet up Mueller’s pressure on Manafort and Gates, although van der Zwaan is not cooperating with the probe.
