Wake Up Call: Legal Fees Could Reach $90 Million in $572 Million J&J Ruling

  • Johnson & Johnson said it plans to appeal after an Oklahoma judge ordered the company to pay $572 million to the state for misleading marketing of opioid drugs. That award is far less than the $17 billion the state had demanded, but it gives a “green light” for similar suits. More than 45 other states and 2,000 local governments are hoping to win billions of dollars in verdicts with the same arguments that Oklahoma used.
