Wake Up Call: ‘Never Trump’ Letter Gets Partner Rejected as Compliance Monitor

• After Covington & Burling partner Peter Lichtenbaum signed the “Never Trump” letter before the 2016 presidential election, Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross withdrew an offer for Lichtenbaum to become compliance monitor overseeing the U.S. settlement with the Chinese telecommunications company ZTE Corp. The job instead went to Roscoe Howard, a former U.S. attorney in Washington and now a white-collar defense partner at Barnes & Thornburg. ( National Law Journal ) ( Reuters )
