Wake Up Call: Saudi Arabia Hires Gibson Dunn Partner to Lobby Against “NOPEC”

• Former Solicitor General Ted Olson, now at Gibson Dunn, was hired by Saudi Arabia ‘s embassy to lobby against the proposed “No Oil Producing and Exporting Cartels Act,” which the kingdom apparently views as a threat despite the bill’s longshot status. The embassy reported the contract in a filing with the Justice Department. Gibson Dunn said it calls for the firm to get up to $250,000 for an initial op-ed and legislative analysis, plus $100,000 per month if the embassy wants the firm to lobby lawmakers. ( Bloomberg )
